The new Nikon Z6III takes the concept of the mid-range mirrorless camera to new levels

The new Nikon Z6III is more than just a massive improvement on the Nikon Z6II. It gives you flagship-style performance in a mid-range camera body and, in some areas, it even surpasses the Z9 and Z8. The Z6III contains a number of features new to Nikon, including a couple never seen before on any mirrorless camera.*

World’s first partially stacked sensor

The Nikon Z6III uses, for the first time in any mirrorless camera, a partially stacked sensor for image capture. Previously sensors have come in grades of technology – CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor), BSI (Back Side Illuminated) CMOS and stacked CMOS. These would usually translate into standard, mid-range and high end. The difference between the three is the way various elements within the sensor are arranged, making the sensor faster at registering an image, called readout speed. A faster sensor enables higher burst rates, a fully electronic shutter option and improved autofocus and subject detection.

The world’s first partially stacked sensor allows phenomenal sensor scan speeds and ultra-fast data readout

The partially stacked sensor on the Nikon Z6III is a breakthrough in sensor technology for mid-range cameras, combining many high-speed circuits in the stacked parts to enable a readout speed that’s 3.5x faster than the Nikon Z6II. This new sensor, combined with the superfast Expeed 7 processor, means the Nikon Z6III is capable of:

60fps stills shooting (in full-frame mode) or 120fps in DX mode
Full HD 240p (amazing for 10x slow-mo)
Up to 6K/60p RAW in-camera video with no need for an external recorder
Faster AF calculations
Pre-Release Capture at up to 120fps
Up to 120fps refresh rate of the electronic viewfinder.

World’s brightest EVF

The electronic viewfinder on the Nikon Z6III is the brightest of any mirrorless camera – brighter even than the one in the Z8 or Z9 (which was the brightest until the Z6III came along). At 4,000 nits, you’ll get amazing visibility and high dynamic range in high-contrast situations and details won’t be hidden in shadows. And with a 5760k-dot screen and up to 120fps refresh rate (and no loss of resolution even at the highest frame rates) you might even forget it’s an EVF at all.

World’s first EVF with DCI-P3 colour gamut

DCI-P3 is a colour space that was developed for use in digital cinemas to vastly improve the moviegoing experience. A DCI-P3 monitor such as the EVF in the Nikon Z6III is capable of displaying up to 25% more colour depth than sRGB, along with higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks. The result is more lifelike colours in the EVF and HEIF and JPEG files coming out the way you wanted them.
